The Self-Worth Project, Phase 1

300 postcards left on the Tube, 50+ strangers replied

I placed anonymous pre stamped postcards on empty London Underground seats, asking strangers what they feel judged for and how they try to hide it.

The replies revealed private worries around appearance, identity, belonging, work, relationships and social pressure. Phase 1 became a research method: a quiet way to let people share things they might not say face to face.

I was struck by the honesty, coming home, I’d hope another postcard had slipped through the letterbox

appearance & ageing

identity & bias

perfectionism & belonging

relationship & norms

social skills

work value & success

acceptance & confidence

There was no pressure, no face-to-face interaction, I just left the cards and waited for the right person to find them, rather than vice versa
